A community-driven solution to poverty in Indianapolis. Circles Indy connects families with trained volunteers who walk alongside them on the path to economic stability.
About Circles Indy
Circles Indy is an Indianapolis-based nonprofit that helps families move out of poverty through the nationally recognized Circles USA model. The program pairs individuals and families ("Circle Leaders") with trained community volunteers ("Allies") who walk alongside them as they build the skills, relationships, and resources needed for lasting economic stability.
Every Thursday evening, Circle Leaders, Allies, and community members gather for dinner, training, and support. Free childcare and youth programming are provided so entire families can participate.
How it works
- Circle Leaders are individuals and families working to move out of poverty. They receive training in financial literacy, goal setting, communication, and employment skills.
- Circle Allies are community volunteers from middle and upper-income backgrounds who commit to walking alongside a Circle Leader for 18 months, providing friendship, support, and accountability.
- Weekly gatherings happen every Thursday at Tabernacle Presbyterian Church in Indianapolis. Dinner at 6 PM, meeting from 6:30 to 8 PM, with free youth programming and childcare.
Poverty is not just about a lack of money. It's about a lack of relationships, resources, and support systems. Circles builds all three.
